In their first solo show, titled, “TOUCH,” art duo Casey Sommers and Angela Briggs present sixteen works that harmonize texture and tension into tactual environments that manifest a shared memory or moment in time. Composed of acrylic, tempera, string, tape, and glass beads, as well as spray paint, gold leaf, glaze, hand-punched paper, and corrugated paper, these synergic compositions possess an effervescent beauty.
Working on each piece simultaneously, while constantly reacting to and acknowledging each other’s moods and emotions, Angela and Casey’s work exemplifies Seth Godin’s description of art as “a personal act of courage, something one human does that creates change in another.”
True to the show’s title, Casey and Angela invite attendees of this exhibition to touch their pieces. This intimacy enriches the viewer’s experience and allows a deeper internalization of the body of work.
